Tuesdays Tip- Always Check Receipts

Checking your receipt after a purchase can save you lots of money each year. This is something so basic but yet so very important in our saving money lifestyle. Usually, once you catch an error on your receipt (by accident) you will start being more vigilant and careful about checking your receipts in the future. Here are some reasons why you should start checking the receipt:

• Item on sale did not register the sale price. This is very common and chances are you purchased the item because it was on sale and then end up paying full price if you don't catch this error.
  
• Clearance items with a sticker might not ring up the listed price.


• Item you thought was on sale and purchased was actually not on sale.
  
• Additional items may have been rung up when you only purchased one.


• Coupons you used might not have been scanned or deducted.
  

My Tip: Although my eyes are on the cash register when they are scanning the items I am buying, I always check the receipt after my transaction is complete to make sure its is correct. I move to the side and spend an extra minute or two reviewing the details. When I am in CVS or Walgreen's I also make sure I received the correct amount of ECB (Extra Cash Back) or RR (Register Rewards) that I had expected. It is much easier to go back to the cashier if you discover an error and get it fixed rather than making an additional trip to the store next time. You are also more likely to get the error corrected rather than dispute the charges one week later.

I found the Walgreens Coloring Book

I don't think I have ever been so excited about a coloring book in my life. The other day while I was doing my "Double Dipping" shopping at Walgreen's, I finally found the Walgreen's Coloring book with all the coupons inside. The coloring book was found in the clearance section in the back of the store and was marked down from $0.99 to $0.75. My store had tens of them and I don't think many people know their true value. The reason these coloring books are so great is because they contain $20 worth of Walgreen's coupons- which means that you can combine the the Walgreen's coupons with Manufacturers coupons for the same item and save lots of money. It is similar to stacking the Easysaver Coupons with the Manufacturer's coupons. All the coupons expire March 31, 2009!

How to find more deals yourself: Browse the Target flier especially the last few pages for the great deals on food and household items. Bo on the lookout for very small Target Gift Card Photos that are sometimes pictured near some sale items. Read the small print, which may say ...get a $5 gift card when you buy (5) cereals... etc. Then look to see if you can combine them with any Target coupons (online, newspaper inserts, Catalina's- end of receipt coupons), Manufacturers Coupons and subtract the amount you will receive as a Gift Card= final price you will pay for the item. Many times Target will also give other gift items when buying selected items pictured.

Remember:

* Buy one get one free products- you can use (2) coupons, one for each product. Example: Razors are $4.99 on sale and B1G1 Free, you can use (2) $2.00 coupons = $0.99 for 2 packs of razors that would usually cost $10.00+ for both.

* Combine Buy one get one free coupons with the Buy one get one free sale and get both items for free.

* Always bring your almost expiring coupons to the trial size area and match them up to get stuff for free.

* Know your Target's store policy regarding Manufacturers Coupons, Internet Coupons , Rainchecks etc.

K Mart is doubling manufacturers coupons and its finally come to my area. K Mart will double all coupons up to and including $2.00 value.
